Dorcas Creations, findable online at dorcasccreations@yahoo.com, is coming to Oracle on Saturday, March 1. Meet up at 620 American Ave., Ste. D in Oracle, where there will be free coffee and dessert at the Grand Opening from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. The new business will be offering handmade fabric crafts and gifts.
Dorcas Creations was started last year with a used sewing machine and a lot of trial and error, as owner Giulia Lewis taught herself to sew, with much encouragement from friends and family during recovery from a double-knee surgery.
Giulia shared, “Although I had tried to sew many years before, I was wildly unsuccessful and gave up quickly, but now I was able to sew and actually became quite good at it in a very short time. I believe that my success has been divinely inspired and drove my decision to name the business – Dorcas Creations.”
She further stated, “I have been truly blessed by everyone who has encouraged and supported me through this journey, and I am so excited to continue to share my story and my gifts with those in our community.”
Dorcas is the Greek name of Tabitha, who was a well-known and respected disciple of Jesus Christ. She was known for her skilled work as a seamstress as well as her generosity. Her story is in the book of Acts, Chapter 9, verses 36 through 42.
