  Ups and downs. Wins and losses.

  Basketball season is in full swing for Copper Corridor high schools.

Hayden

  The Lady Lobos basketball team kept busy on the court last week. The girls started the week with an away game at Superior. The Lady Lobos put up a fight, and in the end were able to come out victorious with a 7-point win. The final score of the game was 28-21.

  Closing out their week with an away game at Patagonia Union. The Lady Lobos held the lead by the end of the first quarter, with a 10-6 score. During the second quarter, the girls scored 5 points and gave up 5, making the score 15-11 by halftime. Coming back from the half, the girls struggled to keep Patagonia out of the net. The girls gave up 14 points, and only scored 8 points for the third quarter. The final quarter saw the Lady Lobos score 8 points again, but give up 11 points. The final score of the game was 31-36, giving the girls a tough loss.

  The Hayden boys basketball team also traveled to take on Superior. The Lobos put up a fight, and were able to claim the win over the Panthers. The final score of the game sat at 57-37.

  The boys closed out their week with an away game at Patagonia. Once again the boys came out ready to play, scoring 18 points in the first quarter. At halftime, the Lobos had scored 32 points. For the second half of the game, the Lobos were able to put up 22 more points. The boys claimed the win for the night, with a final score of 53-22.

  Early this week, both boys and girls teams traveled to play San Manuel, then they will host Cicero Prep on Dec. 17. The boys and girls will close out their week competing in the Eastern Arizona College Holiday Basketball Invitational.

Ray

  Team results for the Coach Edgar Brown Holiday Basketball Tournament:

  Lady ‘Cats: 27-40 loss to El Capitan, 17-34 loss to Rock Point, 26-39 loss to Patagonia Union, 33-14 win over Bagdad, 26-28 loss to Northland Prep, and a win over BASIS Flagstaff.

  For the Bearcats: 42-56 loss to Bagdad, 56-30 win over Fredonia, 59-50 win over Seligman, 56-54 win over Rock Point, 56-71 loss to Bagdad, 46-45 win over Williams.

  It was a week full of games for the Lady ‘Cats, who started their week with a home game against San Simon. The girls struggled to hold them back, resulting in a tough 17-37 loss.

  The girls were able to make up for the loss, during an away game at Valley Lutheran. The Lady ‘Cats claimed the win with a 56-15 win.

  The girls hosted Meyer for a Saturday game. The girls claimed the win, with a high scoring 61-32 final score.

  The Bearcats also opened their week with a home game against San Simon. The boys played a close game, but were able to claim the win, with a final score of 68-56.

  On Friday, they traveled to take on Valley Lutheran. The Bearcats put up a fight, but in the end fell short by 1 point, with a 70-71 loss.

  The boys closed out their week with a home Saturday game against Meyer. The Bearcats dominated the court and claimed the win with a final score of 67-16.

  Both teams will play at Superior on Dec. 17. The girls will close out their week with a home game against Dishchii-bikoh on Dec. 19, with a start time of 5:30 p.m.

San Manuel

  It was a busy time on the court for the Lady Miners basketball team last week. The girls started their week with an away game at Baboquivari. The girls struggled to hold them back, resulting in a tough 18-47 loss.

  The following day, the girls hosted Superior. The Lady Miners put up a fight, but in the end were unable to claim the win. The final score of the game was 24-32.

  The girls closed out their week with a game against ASDB at home. The Lady Miners were able to close out their week on a positive, and claimed the win with a final score of 43-21.

  The Miners had an even busier schedule last week. The boys started he week with an away game at Baboquivari. The boys were unable to best the Warriors, resulting in a 28-52 loss.

  The next day the boys hosted Superior. It was another tough game, this one being a close 1-point difference. The Miners suffered a close defeat of 40-41 to the Panthers.

  The following day the boys hosted ASDB. The boys were able to claim the victory against the Sentinels, with a final score of 36-31.

  The boys closed out their week competing in the Copper Cities Tournament. Their results were: 24-47 loss to Globe, 28-121 loss against San Carlos, 21-45 loss to Miami, and a 38-50 loss to Superior.

  Both the boys and girls teams hosted Hayden on Dec. 16, and will host Valley Lutheran on Dec. 19, with the girls’ game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ game starting at 7 p.m.

Superior

  The Lady Panthers started last week hosting Hayden. The girls played a tough game, but in the end fell short by 7 points, and a final score of 21-28.

  The following day, the girls traveled to San Manuel. The girls played a tough game, and were able to close out their week with a win. The final score of the game was 32-24.

  The Panthers started the week with a home game against Hayden. It was a tough game, and the boys were unable to keep the Lobos out of the net. The final score of the game was 37-57.

  The next day they traveled to San Manuel to take on the Miners. The Panthers came in ready to play, and it was a close game. The boys came out on top with a 1-point victory over the Miners; the final score sat at 41-40.

  The Panthers closed out the week competing in the Copper Cities Tournament. The Panthers results were: 38-51 loss to Miami, 51-48 win over Globe, 35-88 loss to Globe, 50-38 win over San Manuel, and a 59-63 loss to Miami.

  Both teams traveled to Fort Thomas on Dec. 16, then on Dec. 17, they will host Ray. The girls’ game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and boys’ game is at 7 p.m.
