Do you like to sing? Have you always wanted to sing in a chorus? Join the Voices in the Oaks!
The Voices in the Oaks Chorale, a community chorus sponsored by the Oracle Piano Society is looking for interested singers. Rehearsals for the spring session will begin on Thursday, March 1 at the Oracle Center for the Arts (OrCA), and will culminate in a performance presented on Sunday, May 20, 3 p.m.
This spring, the chorus will be performing Oedipus Tex, an “oratorio” parody composed by PDQ Bach, aka Peter Schickele. The Voices in the Oaks will comprise the Greek chorus. Solo roles are available and will be selected from the chorus. The Chorus will open the concert with a selection of choral folk song arrangements.
Rehearsals are held at OrCA, 700 E Kingston Street in Oracle every Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. No audition is required.
The Voices in the Oaks is a community chorus, presenting two concerts a year. The chorus is open to all singers, aged 16 and above. Music-reading skills are helpful, but are not a strict requirement. All who enjoy singing in a choral setting are welcome.
