Last week, the Superior VFW made a donation to the Superior High School FCCLA which will be sending an impressive nine students to the National Competition being held in Atlanta, Georgia. VFW #3584 donated $200 to the club to help pay for meals and other excursions while traveling to Atlanta, Mrs. Valerie Garcia-Denogean plans to take the students to experience southern soul food and also get some history while visiting a plantation on the outskirts of town. For many of the incredible students it will be their first time on an airplane or even out of the state, a trip very well-deserved by these student who worked very hard on their respective projects and presentations. It is worth noting that our small school will be so heavily represented at a national competition where only about 5,000 from around the entire United States were chosen to compete for the highly coveted prizes and scholarships. Pictured are several of the students traveling to Atlanta to compete in this year’s National FCCLA Competition with VFW Auxiliary President Rhonda Brown and VFW Representative Mike Montiel.
