There is a saying that goes, “summer wrestling makes winter champions.”

San Manuel High School wrestlers, Sienna Taylor and Jose Torres are putting in that summer work.

After they both finished up their winter season at state, with Taylor placing 4th, the two continued wrestling post season. They joined a wrestling club, and began going to tournaments every month.

“The work weve both been putting in this wrestling season is nothing short of impressive. Our goal is clear: to go far in the AIA State Championship. Weve set high standards for ourselves because we believe in our potential and our ability to push beyond limits,” Taylor said. “Placing at state may sound simple, but the journey is anything but easy. It takes discipline, resilience, and relentless effort every single day. While were prepared to give it our all, we know we wouldnt be here pushing ourselves more without the incredible support weve already received.”

Taylor and Torres are planning to attend the Rocky Mountain National Duals in San Diego, California in August. They have been doing their own fundraising through raffles, and currently have a Gofundme campaign to help raise funds to cover their expenses. Their goal is $2,200, and the campaign can be found at: www.gofundme.com/f/support-sienna-and-joses-wrestling-journey

“To everyone whos been there watching us grow, encouraging us, and supporting us even in the smallest ways we thank you. Every bit of it matters more than you know. Were not done yet, but were ready to keep pushing,” Taylor said.
