Billie Jo Villaverde and the Superior Dance Company says it’s time to DANCE!

They have several performances coming in the next several weeks.

On Monday, March 24, the group will be performing at the Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks game. They are the main spotlight during the Primetime Performance at 6:30 p.m., right before game time at 7 p.m.

This will be their first time performing folklorico dances. Previously, they have presented a Hip-Hop dance and a Tribute to Selena for the Suns’ La Cultura night. They also performed a Hip-Hop mix for the Phoenix Mercury vs. Indiana Fever game last year.

“We are excited to be displaying a mix of Veracruz and Jalisco songs,” Villaverde said. “These folklorico dances are some crowd favorites!”

Superior Dance Company will be having a raffle for tickets to the Suns vs. Bucks game. Contact Villaverde at 480-532-0068 if you are interested.

The kids in the group have been practicing and preparing for their upcoming performance at Superior’s annual Apache Leap Mining Festival on Sunday, March 30, 1-2 p.m. on the Besich Park Stage.

Superior Dance Company will be displaying costumes, many of them purchased through a grant from Resolution Copper and a partnership with Rebuild Superior.

“Having Resolution Copper sponsor SDC has made it possible for so many dancers to have costumes and accessories, as well as providing funds for us to use for our performances and travel expenses,” Villaverde said, offering her heartfelt thanks to Resolution Copper.

Superior Dance Company consists of dancers ages two years and up. These dancers are not just from Superior. Several parents make the drive from Hayden-Winkelman, Kearny, Globe-Miami. “We also have dancers that make the drive from Mesa and Apache Junction,” Villaverde added.
