Resolution Copper Company

On Feb. 6, the Superior Unified School Board in partnership with Resolution Copper approved an Education Funding Agreement that will provide $1.2 million to the District and its schools for the funding of education and educational opportunities. Beginning in May 2019, the funding agreement will provide $300,000 a year to the District for the next four years.

The funds will be used to upgrade and enhance K-12 classrooms and programs, support quality instruction through professional development as well as support other SUSD school-wide programs.

“We are grateful for the opportunity that Andrew Lye and Resolution Copper have provided us to improve the quality of education for our Superior students,” said SUSD Superintendent Stephen Estatico. “Both Resolution Copper and the Superior Unified School District are committed to creating a 21st Century workforce that will be sustainable for years to come.”

Resolution Copper Project Director, Andrew Lye said, “Resolution Copper is dedicated to working with and supporting our neighbors and partners in the community in transforming K-12 education so that all students in Superior schools can acquire and effectively apply the learning skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their studies, careers and adult lives. Resolution Copper and the Superior Unified School District share a vision for the betterment of education and we believe this new investment will help realize our shared vision, benefitting both Resolution Copper and the community.”

Resolution Copper and the Superior Unified School District have been partnering to support educational funding for more than 15 years, which was always done on a year-to-year basis. This is the first time that a multi-year funding agreement has been created to support education for the District.  SUSD is proud of the new partnership and investment Resolution Copper Mining has made in our district and the potential opportunities this funding will provide for the students of Superior.
