The Superior Unified School District has been busy planning for the 2020/2021 School Year. At times, it has been frustrating because of the lack and or change of information provided by our state government. However, in collaboration with other Pinal County Districts and our membership organizations across the state, we believe we have developed a plan to begin the 2020/2021 school year.
School is set to begin either in-person or remotely for all students on Aug. 17. This is a result of Governor Ducey’s Executive Order 2020-44. Please refer to our updated academic calendar on our website. Social-distancing, enhanced cleaning, and hygiene procedures will be in place. Our guidelines and procedures are posted on our website. The implementation of these guidelines and procedures are in place not only as a condition to reopen school but also are also necessary to keep our students and staff safe.
Superior Schools is preparing to provide access to our curriculum through remote-learning. SUSD has purchased electronic devices for all students. We have also purchased WIFI hotspots for those students that do not have access already. We have placed additional information regarding our remote-learning program on our website. In addition, our teachers and staff will be reaching out to all students in order to communicate classroom collaboration and pertinent information.
All parents/guardians can complete and submit a registration packet online. We will be holding a drive-through registration event on July 30. The details of that event will be coming soon. Parents/guardians can also call each school site to arrange to pick-up or drop-off packets. Please also check are website for more additional information.
We are heading into a new era of teaching and learning. There will be some roadblocks and setbacks along the way. Only by working together will we accomplish our goals.
Sincerely,
/s/ Stephen Estatico
SUSD Superintendent
