Superior High School hosted its annual scholarship and academic awards ceremony earlier this month with well over $500,000 in scholarships and grants awarded.
SaddleBrooke Community Outreach awarded $36,000 in scholarships to Danika Bryant, Myika Cruz and Aubryana Preciado.
Cesar Chavez Memorial scholarships were awarded to Danika Bryant, Myika Cruz, Christopher Granillo, Monica Lopez, Juliana Navarro and Aubryana Preciado. Each were awarded $1,000 scholarships.
Pinal County Federal Credit Union awarded $500 to Monica Lopez. Myika Cruz was awarded the $500 Steven L. Besich Leadership Grant through Resolution Copper.
Superior Rotary Club recognized Christopher Granillo with a $500 scholarship; they also hosted the Memorial Scholarship for Ong Chun and Helen Hing. Juliana Navarro was awarded the memorial scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
The David Montano Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Myika Cruz and Aubryana Preciado in the amount of $500 each. Social Club de Damas awarded Juliana Navarro and Aubryana Preciado $1,000 each. The Silvas Grant was awarded to Chanel Lopez. Aubryana Preciado was awarded the $1,000 United Superiorites scholarship.
The Mike McKee Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Coleton Johnston. The Mike McKee Scholarship is awarded to students who are pursuing a career in the skilled trades. The Superior Optimist Club awarded five $400 scholarships to Danika Bryant, Myika Cruz, Monica Lopez, Juliana Navarro, Aubryana Preciado. Juliana Navarro was awarded the Lopez-Gomez Family Scholarship. The Richard Castaneda Scholarship was awarded to Juliana Navarro and Monica Lopez.
Society Car Club awarded Myika Cruz and Aubryana Preciado $1,000 scholarships. Aubryana Preciado has also been accepted into Troy University in Alabama where she will attend this fall. Troy University awarded her in state tuition awards and other scholarships.
Myika Cruz, who will be attending the University of Arizona this fall, also received a $20,000 scholarship that is renewable. She was also awarded the Arizona Milk Producers REEL Milk Moments Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. She was also awarded the Chuy Lara Memorial Scholarship, which was named after a police officer that was killed in action at the Casa Grande Police Department. The Lara scholarship was for students in Pinal County planning on studying public safety and criminal justice.
Danika Bryant who will be attending University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff received a $24,000 scholarship. She will be attending the University of Arkansas on a softball scholarship.
Christopher Granillo was awarded $11,300 to the University of Arizona.
Central Arizona College awarded Danika Bryant and Myika Cruz two years of tuition. Both have committed to other schools.
Juliana Navarro was awarded a $2,200 per semester scholarship to Grand Canyon University.
