Two Copper Corridor volleyball teams faced off against each other in the Small School Invitational earlier this month.
The Lady Bearcats and Lady Panthers both participated in the Sept. 7 tournament, playing several teams each.
For the Lady ‘Cats, the girls had an 0-2 loss to Anthem Prep, a 2-0 win over St. Augustine, a 0-2 loss against BASIS Phoenix, and a 2-0 win against Superior.
The Lady Panthers suffered two tough losses during the tournament, a 0-2 loss to Maryvale Prep, and a 0-2 loss against Ray.
Ray Lady ‘Cats
The Lady ‘Cats started last week off with a home game against Duncan. The girls suffered a tough loss of 1-3 with the set scores 25-23, 12-25, 18-25 and 20-25. The girls played against Mogollon next, suffering a tough loss of 0-3 with the set scores 16-25, 13-25 and 5-25.
The girls ended their week competing in the Mogollon Invitational. Results were not available at press time and will be included in next week’s issue.
Superior Lady Panthers
Last week the girls started off with a match against Fort Thomas. It was a tough loss of 1-3. The set scores were 13-25, 25-14, 16-25 and 13-25.
The girls ended their week with a match against Hayden. The girls won 3-1 with set scores 25-12, 20-25, 25-11 and 25-23.
The Lady Panthers will take on Valley Lutheran and San Manuel this week.
Hayden Lady Lobos
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Lady Lobos hosted the Miami Vandals. It was a good evening for the girls, who won three sets in a row, giving the girls their first win of the season. Hayden traveled to Superior last Thursday. The girls were only able to win one of the sets; the scores were 12-25, 25-20, 11-25 and 23-25. The girls suffered a tough 1-3 loss.
The Lady Lobos will travel this week to take on Dishchii’bikoh then will take on Ray on Sept. 19, with a start time of 5 p.m.
San Manuel Lady Miners
The Lady Miners traveled to ASDB to start off last week. The girls came out victorious, winning 3-1, with the set scores 25-21, 25-11, 16-26 and 25-16. The Lady Miners ended their week with a match against Fort Thomas. It was a tough time on the court with a 1-3 loss; the set scores were 8-25, 25-20, 20-25 and 14-25.
The Lady Miners will take on Ray and Superior this week.
