On Friday, Aug. 27, the Panthers faced off against Duncan on the Superior High School football field. Early in the season and only their second game, the Panthers have still not been able to find a win.

Down by 12 for majority of the game, the Panthers were unable to breakthrough on offense. Duncan suppressed Superior’s scoring, and kept them off the board. The final score was 0-26.

“I am proud of our team, we played hard and competed,” said head coach Joshua Denhalter. “I got to do a better job of putting our athletes in a position to have success. We have a young team, and our goal is to be the most improved team every week. Duncan is a good team, and while it may not have been obvious on the scoreboard, our players grew from week one to week two. We will keep grinding in week three.”

The Superior Panthers will travel to play against the returning state champions, the Mogollon Mustangs, on Friday Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. If you cannot make it in person to support the Panthers, the game will be viewable via livestream on NFHSnetwork.com.

“The game will be a great measuring point for us,” stated coach Denhalter with hope. “The season is still young, and we will keep getting better.”
