The Copper Corridor’s football teams were on the field again this past week taking on some tough teams. Hayden remains undefeated this season with another big win. San Manuel posted its first win of the season in a home game against Fort Thomas.

The Miners came out ready to play against the Apaches. Both teams had 8 points at the end of the first quarter.

During the second quarter the Miners were able to pull ahead, ending the first half of the game with a lead of 24-16. The second half of the game started with Fort Thomas scoring a touchdown and getting the score to 24-24, and that’s how it stayed until the end of the quarter.

The fourth quarter started with Fort Thomas scoring a touchdown and a 2-point conversion, setting the score to 24-32. The Miners responded by scoring a touchdown and 2-point conversion of their own and quickly following it with another, giving the Miners a 40-32 victory over the Apaches.

The Miners will travel to take on Valley Union on Friday, Sept. 20, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.

Hayden Lobos

Hayden continued its tradition of playing some hard football, traveling to Joseph City for a Thursday night game.

The Lobos came out ready to play and held nothing back. The Wildcats struggled to break through a tough Lobo defense, and only scored one touchdown. The Lobos came home victorious, with a 59-6 win over Joseph City.

The next game the Lobos will play at home against Lincoln Prep. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Be sure to come out and see the Lobos!

Ray Bearcats

The Ray Bearcats had a tough time on the field Friday night. They traveled to take on Valley Union.

The Bearcats struggled to break through Valley Union’s defense. The boys were only able to get one touchdown in the game.

It was a tough loss of 6-36 for the Bearcats.

The boys will host Baboquivari on Friday, Sept. 20, with a start time of 7 p.m.

Superior Panthers

The Superior football team hosted Mogollon last Friday. It was a tough game for the Panthers, but they put up a fight.

The game ended with a 26-53 final score.

The Panthers will travel to take on Fort Thomas on Friday, Sept. 20, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.
