After a lengthy Executive Session during its Aug. 14 board meeting, the Ray Unified School District Governing Board voted to accept the resignation of RUSD Superintendent Anthony Morrison.

Morrison served the district for one year under a two-year contract.  Details in the minutes from the Aug. 14 meeting did not disclose the reason for the abrupt resignation or any penalty for the break in the contract.  Personnel matters are generally discussed in executive session (secret session) to allow for personnel privacy and to receive legal council.

At press time, it was not clear if Morrison would need to pay the district for ending a contract early.  The RUSD Governing Board was scheduled to meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, to determine the hiring or appointment of a new Superintendent. Information on that meeting was unavailable at press time.
