Rosie C. Ortega

  Rosie C. Ortega, of Hayden, AZ passed away at home surrounded by love on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025. She had just turned 79 last month and celebrated with her group of friends whom she loved dearly. Rosie graduated Hayden High School in 1965.

  Rosie was very faithful and pious to her Catholic Religion and served St. Joseph’s Parish for decades in different roles. She visited the Hayden Senior Center daily and the Hayden Library on occasion. Rosie loved her exercise classes and even attended them twice daily sometimes. She loved attending grandparents’ day with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at school and many other of their performances and programs. She enjoyed impromptu picnics at the river.

  She will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness and giving qualities. By those she helped raise, she will also be remembered by her loving sternness, but more importantly as a second mother figure. By all she will be remembered for her delicious recipes.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer D. Ortega; her parents, Gomecindo and Jesus Cruz; three sisters, Josefina (Torres), Cecilia (Ordaz) and Carmen (Torres); three brothers, Manuel, Edward and Ramon Cruz; and her nephew, Gregory Cruz. She is survived by 10 stepchildren; her grandchildren, Joel and Jesus David Ortega, Teresa Oropeza, Francisca Sosa, and A.J. Westrope; many nieces and nephews, many Godchildren, a couple of aunts, a large amount of cousins and her circle of friends.

  Services for Mrs. Ortega will be held in Hayden at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, Sept. 26, with viewing at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Interment at the Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden will follow Mass.
