Robert Clifford Coons

  Robert Clifford Coons (Bob), 84, died Dec. 18, 2025, in Lehi, Utah, surrounded by his sweet wife and many loved ones. He was born July 5, 1941, in Miami, Arizona, to Howard (Dutch) and Margret Coons.

  Bob was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and completed a two-and-a-half-year mission to Mexico. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. Bob was married to his beloved wife and the love of his life, Sue Sanders Coons, for 61 wonderful years. They lived most of their lives in Arizona and briefly in Nevada and Utah. Sue passed away nine days after her beloved husband, Bob.

  Many will remember Bob as the San Manuel Fire Chief, as Santa, and as a person happy to engage in conversation with anyone at any time. His famous homemade root beer, salsa, fudge, and jerky were signature delights. His family will remember his big hugs, his protective love, and his steady dedication and faith.

  Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dick and Bruce Coons; and son-in-law Carl Yeck. He is survived by his wife, Sue of Lehi, UT; brother, Jack (Sharon) Coons of Pomerene, AZ; sister, Peggy (Denny) Nelson of Winslow, AZ; daughter, Cody Yeck of Lehi, UT; daughter, Tracy (Denby) Cluff of Cedar Hills, UT; son, Todd Robert (Loreen) Coons of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Kelly (Mark) Martin of Pomerene, AZ; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

  Joint services for Bob and Sue were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, in Benson. Interment followed at Pomerene Cemetery.
