Richard ‘Dickie’ Romero

Richard “Dickie” Romero passed away April 1, 2025.

Dickie was born in Ray, Arizona, on Dec. 12, 1951, to Luciano and Paulina Romero. Dickie grew up in San Pedro and later moved to Dudleyville. He was a devoted father to his two children, daughter, Regina of Winkelman and son, Rick (Kristin) Romero of San Tan Valley. He was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. His family was his greatest joy.

Dickie worked for Kennecott/Asarco for more than 30 years. He enjoyed family gatherings and grilling for family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially taking his jeep up to cactus hill and making sure he stopped to say “hello” to everyone. Dickie always was willing to lend a hand and always had a joke or a story to share.

Dickie was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Romero; his parents, Luciano and Paulina Romero; and siblings, Raul “Gordo” Romero, Luciano “Chano” Romero and Lilly Rabago. While he will be dearly missed, we take comfort in knowing he is joyfully reunited with his loved ones.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayden, AZ. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.; Rosary is at 9:30 a.m. and the Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. followed by Inurnment at the Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden, AZ.
