Hayden-Winkelman Unified School District is pleased to share that Resolution Copper has delivered $50,000 in funding to upgrade and enhance the science lab at Hayden High School. As a small rural school serving approximately 100 students in Gila County, we are committed to providing our students with high quality learning experiences that inspire innovation and future readiness, particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

Project Overview:

The Science Lab Enhancement Project seeks to revitalize our aging science classroom with modern equipment, updated lab furniture, and a broader range of hands-on instructional materials. This initiative will significantly expand our capacity to deliver engaging, relevant STEAM curriculum aligned with 21st century learning standards and workforce development needs.

Goals of the Project:

  • Improve Learning Infrastructure: Replace outdated lab tables, stools, and fixtures to ensure student safety and support collaborative, inquiry-based learning.
  • Modernize Science Equipment: Acquire tools such as microscopes, lab kits, biology, chemistry and environmental science), and a basic science supplies.
  • Enhance STEAM Curriculum: Integrate robotics kits and coding software to connect science with technology and engineering applications.
  • Expand Student Opportunities: Empower students with skills and exposure that prepare them for higher education and technical careers in mining, environmental science, and related industries.

High School Principal, Pamela Gonzalez stated, “As a local industry leader, Resolution Copper has a long-standing commitment to supporting education, workforce development, and community growth in rural Arizona and specifically to the Copper Corridor.
