Ramon O. Quiroz

  With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ramon Quiroz, who departed this life on Dec. 29, 2024, in Oro Valley, Arizona at the age of 92. Ramon was born on Dec. 31, 1931, in Magdalena of Sonora, Mexico, and came to the United States in 1957.

  Ramon was a devoted husband, a cherished father, and a loving grandfather known as Tata Cowboy or Big Tata. He is survived by his daughters, Marta Quiroz Armenta (and her husband Albert), Alma Quiroz Arrieta, Susie Garcia, Gracie Quiroz Marum (and her husband Mike), Linda Trevino (and her husband Richard), and Lydia Smith (and her husband Eddie). Ramon was also a proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren whose lives were enriched by his love and guidance. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty Quiroz; son, Raymond Quiroz; grandsons, Emiliano Morales and Manny Ray Martinez; granddaughter, Adriana Quiroz; and great-grandson, Victor Varela Jr.

  A man of faith, Ramon was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Mammoth, Arizona. His unwavering spirituality and dedication to his faith were cornerstones of his life, inspiring those around him. Ramon’s life was a testament to the power of love and resilience. Married to Betty for over six decades, their union was a shining example of commitment and partnership. Together, they built a life rooted in family, faith, and community.

  Ramon Quiroz will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of perseverance and hard work, as well as his boisterous and headstrong demeanor, will live on in the hearts and actions of his family and friends.

  May he rest in eternal peace.

  Services for Mr. Quiroz will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 122 Church Dr., Mammoth, with the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson following the Funeral Mass.
