Most of us know and can quote John 3:16, but do we know verse 17? “God did not send His Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it.”

A savior is one who rescues a person from grave danger and then keeps them safe. A quick study of the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – reveals that Jesus did just that for us. He rescued us from a life of sin and undesirable results.

Unfortunately, many of us feel so comfortable with our past lifestyle, good or bad, that we fail to follow Jesus. We are not certain that He will keep His word or even try to help us. The Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, show us the love, compassion and mercy of our Lord for us.

We can trust what God says – either through His written Word or when He personally speaks to our heart. He is our rescuer! His death on the cross paid the price for our wrong doing – then gave us the freedom to walk with Him in our journey of life. That is how much He truly loves us!
