The Superior Optimist Club hopes to cash in on the success of last year’s Casino Night.

The Superior Optimist Club will be celebrating its 12th anniversary of service to the community of Superior at its second annual FUNRaiser Night, on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016.  The event opens at 6:30 p.m. at the Magma Club.  The event will feature table games such as Texas Hold’em, Roulette, Black Jack and Craps; everyone will have the chance to play for raffle prizes which have been donated by local businesses.  Some of the prizes include massages, Diamondback tickets, a Superior Schools yearlong athletic pass, restaurant gift cards and passes to various attractions throughout Arizona.

The event also features a silent auction where there is an autographed Cardinals football #32 Tyler Mathieu, a custom bench by Veto Cervantes and many other high end prizes.  Tickets for the event are a suggested donation of $25 and includes appetizers, one drink coupon and game tokens.  You can reserve or pay for your tickets online at: http://conta.cc/29PCgYp .  The club will also have a live auction that includes an underground tour of Resolution Copper.  The winner will also be drawn for the Cardinal’s football tickets that have been raffled off. DJ Supie Town-David Sinteral will be playing music and keeping the crowd going as the night goes on. The event has a little something for every adult to enjoy.

The funds raised from the event support the projects of the Superior Optimist Club which include the annual Optimist Club Honor Roll Banquet where the club awards laptop computers to students who earn the honor roll three times a year for five years.  They also host the annual Miracle on Main St. holiday parade and festivities.  In addition to these two major events the club has a Memorial scholarship fund in memory of Richard Castaneda, one of its founding members and the BeLikeBilly fund which helped to raise the funds for score boards at the high school softball and baseball fields.  The mission of the club is to support activities that support youth and families in Superior.

“We truly appreciate the support of our community, throughout the years.  Without their support our projects and events would not be a success,” organizers said.

Membership in the club is $100 a year and the club meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at Edwardos Pizza.  For more information on the event or the club contact Mila Besich-Lira at 520-827-0676 or JoAnn Besich at 520-827-0592.
