The newly anointed top-ranked Ray girls’ basketball team won its eighth-straight game last Friday night, defeating Miami at home, 81 – 30.
The win was the Lady Cats’ second consecutive 50-point victory after a 62 – 12 win at San Manuel last Thursday.
Sophomore Shelby Yocum led the team with 28 points and seven rebounds in the win. Savannah Rodriguez, a senior, added 25 points in addition to four steals. Emily Rutter, 10 points, and Tara Lorona, 12 points, made it four Lady Cats that reached double-digit scoring in Ray’s highest point total of the season.
Ray recorded 24 steals against the Vandals, including six by Yocum and four each by Rodriguez and Lorona.
