Superior Senior Center Director says farewell

Hello Superior. My name is Paula Romero and I have been the Director of the Superior Senior Center for the past two great years.  I would like to stay longer because I really enjoy my job here but must retire for medical reasons. Before I leave I want to thank all the people in Superior that have been to the Center for graciously accepting me from day one. I was a stranger but they made it feel like home to me.  I appreciate it very much.  I loved talking to all of them. They told me very interesting stories of Superior when it was booming.  I especially enjoyed talking with former Mayor Ruben Fernandez. He was, as all seniors everywhere, a wealth of information.

I would like to thank the businesses in Superior for their support as well.  Their generous donations have helped make the holiday parties a great success. I especially want to say a big thank you to Gemini Outreach.  They not only help support us with donations, but have come in and help serve, clean up and organize games for the seniors during the parties. The ladies have been absolutely great.  Thank you Christina, Elizabeth everyone that has helped us and thank you for bringing your service dog to visit us. A senior moments has misplaced all your names at this time so please don’t feel left out if I do not mention you by name.

There are two other organizations I wish to thank, one is Heritage Health Care Center of Globe for the pastries provided for Pastry Bingos, the other one is The Crossing: Hospice Care, Inc. Globe Office for donations as well.  I hope you continue your relationship with the new director as well.

One of your own will be taking over the duties of director.  Please come in a congratulate Carol Granillo on her new post.  She has been delivering Meals on Wheels for a while and the seniors she delivered to absolutely love her. Mrs. Della Sheets told me Carol was her Angel.  I am sure she will do a fantastic job as director.  She will be assisted, also by one of your own, Maxine Wheeler.  The Senior Center offers quite of bit of services, so come in and ask about those as well.

I promise I will not be a stranger.

  Thank you,

/s/ Paula Romero
