  Superior Junior High held its Annual Sports Award Banquet on Apr. 27 at the school. The following is a list of honorees for the 2015-16 school year.

FOOTBALL – Daniel McConnell (Co-MVP), Adam Navarrette (Co-MVP), Matthew Diaz-Gonzalez (Co-Defensive MVP), Gabriel Castillo (Co-Defensive MVP), Samuel Lopez (Co-Offensive MVP), Gabriel Otero (Co-Offensive MVP), and Arthur Hernandez (Most Improved).

7th-GRADE VOLLEYBALL – Alyssa Bailey (Most Spirited), Dolores Ramirez (MVP), McKenna Duarte (Co-Most Improved), and Jasmine Lopez (Co-Most Improved).

8th-GRADE VOLLEYBALL – Marlee Estatico (MVP), DeAndrian Bogenschutz (Coaches Award) and Hailey Neal (Most Improved).

7th-GRADE FOOTBALL SPIRITLINE – Alisha Garcia (Leadership Award), Aubreanna Nunez (Most Improved) and Brisa Gomez (Most Spirited).

7TH-GRADE BOYS’ BASKETBALL – Adam Navarrette (MVP), Nathan Duarte (Hustle Award) and Joshua Marquez (Offensive Award).

8th-GRADE BOYS’ BASKETBALL – Samuel Lopez (MVP), Daniel McConnell (Hustle Award) and Gabriel Otero (Coaches Award).

7th-GRADE GIRLS’ BASKETBALL – Leanna Hughes (MVP), Dolores Ramirez (Most Offensive) and McKenna Duarte (Most Defensive).

8th-GRADE GIRLS’ BASKETBALL – Julissa Garcia (MVP), Kayla Cardenas (Most Offensive) and Marlee Estatico (Most Defensive).

BASEBALL – Adam Navarrette (Co-MVP), Daniel McConnell (Co-MVP), Samuel Lopez (Defensive Player), and Julian Navarro (Offensive Award).

SOFTBALL – Faith Cordero (Co-Most Improved), Monique Sanchez (Co-Most Improved), DeAndrian Bogenschutz (Coaches Award), McKenna Duarte (Most Defensive), Marlee Estatico (MVP), and Julissa Garcia (Most Offensive).

Andrew Luberda began writing for Copper Area News Publishers (CANP) in February 2013 after working 15 years in Healthcare Financial Management. Andy covers sports for 11 high schools. In May 2012, he earned an AAS in Sports Management at Central Arizona College before graduating with a BS in Communication from Arizona State University in 2014.
