Last week the Superior Panthers had Hollywood on their minds as they celebrated their homecoming. Students participated in several different events to help determine the winner of the coveted spirit stick. There was Jock Volleyball and Powderpuff football, a pep assembly and not to mention themed dress up days at school.

All of the activities culminated with the homecoming parade, football game, royalty coronation and dance. This year’s parade was probably the largest parade in many years with more than 20 entries. The Superior Junior High won the float competition with their “Grease” themed entry. The Junior High student council also motivated their classmates to dress up 50’s style and they choreographed several of the dances to do along the parade route. The class winning the spirit week activities went to the Juniors – SHS Class of 2016.

During the halftime presentations, a special recognition was given to Nacho and Dora Villaverde, the 1954 homecoming King and Queen. They are probably the most loyal Panther fans in town!

The student body at SHS elected Martin Peru and Hunter Flannagan as their homecoming King and Queen. The homecoming royalty court included Seniors: Matthew Zavala and Cierra Navarrette and Meghan Mashaw and Levi French. The underclassmen attendants were: Juniors, Elias Olmos and Marina Hiracheta; and Freshman, Jakob Sinteral and Tatianna Babino.

The Panthers won their homecoming game 58-0 against the Hayden Lobos. On Saturday the students danced the night away in their most glamorous semi formal wear.

The SHS Classes of 1984 and 1994 each held reunion activities over the weekend.
