The second-ranked Ray softball team defeated American Leadership Academy and Hayden while suffering a one-run loss to perennial state title contender San Manuel last week.
Stormee Galka and Daniella Hinojos combined to pitch a five-inning one-hit shutout in the Lady Cats’ 10 – 0 win against ALA last Tuesday.
Galka, the pitcher of record, did not allow a hit in three innings pitched. She walked one and struck out seven Patriots’ hitters in the win. Hinojos tossed two innings in relief, allowing only a hit with two strikeouts. Hinojos did not walk a batter in the outing.
Hinojos, a freshman, drove in two runs and senior Ashley Ortiz drove in three more to lead Ray’s offense. Both Hinojos and Ortiz along with Savannah Willis and Janae Ruiz hit doubles in the game. Galka and Nepeese Avechuco each had two hits.
Upcoming schedule: Apr. 5 at Mogollon and Apr. 8 vs. Duncan. Both games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
