The Coolidge Dolphins came to the Mammoth Pool on Saturday in hopes of ending the Sea Lions’ winning streak in the Central Arizona Swimming League.  The Sea Lions won the meet by a final score of 1031 to 570.   From the 6 and under little swimmers to the 15-18 teenagers, the Sea Lions Team is strong in nearly every age group.  Coolidge has some great swimmers and won several races, but the combination of the great Sea Lions front line along with the team depth made it evident early in the meet that the Sea Lions would extend their 9-year-old winning streak another week.

Two swimmers swam the maximum number of events and achieved person best times in every event.  Jocelyn Hudson (6) not only achieved best times in all four of the events held for 6 and under girls, she won all four races.  Kayla Lambiotte is a seven year old girl competing in the 7-8 girls age group. She achieved personal best times in all six of her events.  Kayla is showing that she will be force to be reckoned with in the future, as she may be one of the fastest 7 year old girls in the league.

Estella Martinez (6), Yasamin Jimenez (9), Martin Madrid (9), and Kayla Madrid (12) all competed in their first swim meet.  All four swimmers swam well, earned ribbons, and had lots of fun.

Jocelyn Hudson was named Sea Lions Beast of the Week.  Jocelyn dropped 5 seconds in the butterfly, 41 seconds in the backstroke, 11 seconds in the breaststroke, and 27 seconds in the freestyle in just one week! She had best times in her individual events and got first place in all of them. Her beastly performance at the Meet was because of her hard work every day in practice. Jocelyn always practices doing her kicks, blowing bubbles, breathing, and swimming without stopping.

The Sea Lions will travel to Globe to compete against the Piranhas on Saturday, June 25.

There is still time to join the team – contact Alex or Wendy Gort at 896-2190 or stop by the Mammoth Pool between 4 and 6 p.m. (Monday-Friday) for more information.
