Installing the propellers

Have you driven up Robles Road in Oracle lately? If not, you should, but if you have, I’m sure you noticed this incredible piece of art.

My father, who is now 84, started this project several years ago, but had not been able to finish it. He was my mother’s caretaker until she passed away in 2014 and then became ill himself. In mid May, doctors told my father his cancer had spread and there was nothing else they could do for him.

My father has always been the rock in our family. He has taken care of many, even strangers. Wednesday evenings, he made dinner for the family and even friends. Sometimes there would be as many as 40 or 50 people at his house for dinner.

When we were told we should call Hospice, my dad informed me he still had a couple things on his Bucket List, one being to see “His Windmill” up. I showed a few family members this pile of stuff on the ground, and they, with many other family members, went to work on it!

With the help of a couple family friends and their back-hoe, we had this amazing addition to his yard artwork up. Thank you to all who participated. My dad loves it. He watches it spin even when he is in bed.
