Congressman Tom O’Halleran, representing Arizona Congressional District One, met with leaders in Superior earlier this month to tour the original Superior High School, which is set to become the new Town of Superior Multi-Generational and Innovation/Enterprise Center.

“I was proud to vote to pass long-overdue appropriations for fiscal year 2022, including new funding that will directly strengthen rural Arizona and small First District towns. Among this direct funding I requested is $2 million in a new investment for Superior’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center. I’m looking forward to continued work with local leaders to bring this project to fruition,” said Rep. O’Halleran.

The $2 million appropriation will aid the town in funding the construction of elevators to improve handicap accessibility and renovate spaces for the library and senior center operations.  The appropriations will be funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  The town of Superior expects to begin the construction on renovations this Summer and have some of the Town’s operations moved in in early 2023.

“We are incredibly honored to have received this appropriations, which is helping us to fulfill this monumental goal of improving quality of life services to our residents of Superior.  We have been able to consistently count on Rep. O’Halleran to advocate for Superior at the federal level,” said Mayor Mila Besich.

Joining in on the tour included leadership from the Superior Enterprise Center, Arlynn Godinez, who escorted Rep. O’Halleran and his staff through the center highlighting that the center will feature skilled job training,
