Ms. Kylee Bean, a US History teacher at Queen Creek High School, has been named the 2015 Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year.
Each year the Queen Creek Chamber recognizes an individual who is dedicated, inspiring and is making a difference in the lives of our youth within the schools located in Queen Creek. The award was announced at the Chamber 6th Annual Business Awards Dinner on Thursday, September 18, 2015. Mrs. Marisol Lechner, Librarian at Queen Creek High School, was a finalist for the award.
Ms. Bean has thirty-two years’ experience as a teacher; twenty-one years have been spent at Queen Creek Unified School District. She has been an Athletics Coach, Student Council Advisor, Department Chair for Social Studies…you name it, and she has done it!
She said her favorite aspect of teaching is to watch the growth that takes place within each student. “Sometimes it is social growth, sometimes it academic growth…but the expression on a young person’s face when they finally experience success, makes it all worthwhile!”
Asked what advice she has for future young teachers, Bean said, “Be patient, know that each child is unique. There will be challenges and times you wonder if it’s all worth it – but stick with it as the impact you can have on the lives of those you teach, is so worth it! You do make a difference!”
