Power’s War, the award winning documentary about Arizona’s deadliest shootout, will be playing at the Mountain Vista School cafeteria on Friday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Power’s War has been traveling around the country playing to large crowds and receiving outstanding reviews. It has been selected to appear at numerous film festivals and was the Grand Prize Winner at the Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas.

Friday’s showing is a community event sponsored by the Oracle School District and the Oracle Historical Society.

The film is about the infamous Power Shootout in the Galiuro Mountains in 1918. The gun battle took place when four lawmen traveled to the remote cabin to arrest John and Tom Power for draft dodging. What happened next is a matter of conjecture and controversy.

After years of research by noted historians and interviews of surviving family members and people who know of the controversy, the film attempts to answer many of the questions and dispel some of the myths that surround this legendary story.

Power’s War is directed and produced by Cameron Trejo. It features Heidi Osselaer, Eduardo Pagan, Marshal Trimble, Don Dedera, Martin Kempton, Millie Barnes, Eduardo Pagan, Mark Weitz, Jeff Robenalt, David Berman, Paul Hietter, Barbara Brooks Wolfe and Thomas Cobb. It is narrated by actor John Slattery of the television series Mad Men.

The Junior National Honor Society of Mountain Vista School will be operating a concession stand where popcorn, soda, candy and other goodies will be for sale.

Admission is free, donations will be accepted.
