Every month, representatives of museums and organizations from around Pinal County “meet up” to exchange ideas, news, event information and work to promote museums and tourism in Pinal County. The groups also help each other to preserve, collect, document and promote the history of the area. The organizations visit at a different museum each meeting where they enjoy a pot luck lunch and get a tour of the museum.

This month, the group ascended en masse upon the Acadia Ranch Museum.

The Oracle Historical Society played host to “the Museum Meet Up” on Monday, July 27 with representatives from 10 historical societies/museums enjoying time at the Acadia Ranch Museum.

The visitors from the different museums received a tour of the Acadia Ranch Museum in Oracle. Some of them then traveled up Mt. Lemmon road to visit the newly renovated American Flag Ranch. They also learned about the upcoming American Flag Ranch Celebration to be held at the ranch on Sept. 26 which will be open to the public.

Representatives from the National Parks Services at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument attended the meeting and let everyone know about the National Parks Service Centennial coming up in 2016. Museums are partnering with the National Parks Service in planning the Centennial Celebration.

Other organizations that attended the Museum Meet Up included the Coolidge Historical Society, Casa Grande Valley Historical Society, Superstition Mountain Museum, Mammoth Historical Society, Queen Valley Historical Society, Maricopa Historical Society, Santa Cruz Historical Society, and the Pinal County Historical Society.
