by Mountain Vista’s scholar athletes – eighth graders were recognized for citizenship, honor roll and principal’s honor roll. Kacy Rae | Submitted
The Mountain Vista football team took on Eloy on Tuesday night in the 11-man Central Junior High League Championship. The Cougars have only 14 players on the team, which makes the accomplishment even more astonishing. With those types of numbers the Cougars, by all rights, should be competing at the 8-man level. Nonetheless, here the they are, only one win away from a championship.
Perhaps as equally impressive is nine of the 14 players on the team were recently recognized for being on the Honor Roll, perfect attendance and/or citizenship.
Players earning recognition include: Jimmie Madrid, Jr., Damien Cline, Kevin Ruiz, Javier Montijo, Matthew Brunskill, Alex Goad, Gilbert Rodriguez, Tyson Hogan, and David Alvarado.
