The San Manuel boys’ basketball team ended a short three-game winless streak with a 70 – 50 victory at Immaculate Heart on Dec. 11.

Javy Tamayo was one of four Miners to score in double figures against the Knights. The sophomore finished with a team-high 12 points to go along with two rebounds and a pair of assists.

Caleb Quintero (11 points) and Fabian Russo (10) also tallied double-digit scoring totals. Michael Ochoa, a junior, finished with a double-double – 11 points and 11 rebounds. He also led the team with three steals in the game.

In a 67 – 50 win at Desert Christian last Friday night, Quintero had a team-high 16 points in addition to four assists and three steals. Hector Sierra, Louis Chavez and Fabian Russo each scored 10 points against the Eagles. Chavez and Javy Tamayo led the Miners with six rebounds apiece.

Up next:  Dec. 20 at Hayden (7 p.m.) and Dec. 28 vs. Combs at the 38th Annual Copper Cities Tournament. That game is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
