Students at Mammoth STEM School learn just how loud the firefighter’s personal alarm is should he ever fall down.

The Mammoth Fire Department visited the Mammoth Elementary School last Monday as part of the National Fire Prevention week.

The fire department was there at the school to help teach and remind the students about several important fire prevention methods. Such as: don’t play with matches, always know your fire drills and stop, drop and roll.

Fire Chief Monty Ponce along with three other men and women from the fire department visited classrooms starting with the Head Start Program and ending with the fifth and sixth graders.

The kids were able to see one of the firemen in all the gear needed to help fight fire and they also had the opportunity to sit in the fire truck.

Fire Prevention Week runs from “the Sunday through the Saturday period in which October 9th falls”, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
