It’s official. There are no Scrooges in the Mammoth Police Department.
Far from it, as a matter of fact.
On Dec. 23, members of the Mammoth Police Department including officers and dispatchers, opened their hearts to two families going through rough times and made some children’s Christmas wishes come true. The Mammoth Police Department adopted two families for Christmas. They then went to the homes of those families with Santa Claus and delivered gifts and food to the children and parents.
The toys and gifts were provided by the W. Steven Martin Police Toy Drive Foundation. The food, diapers and supplies were provided by the dispatchers and officers of the Mammoth Police Department. Over $400 worth of food was purchased by MPD.
“The police department is part of the community,” said Interim Chief Rudy Lujan. “We just don’t give out tickets and arrest people; we are here to help the community.”
There are six happy kids and their parents that can attest to that.
No “Bah, Humbugs” there!
