The No. 6-ranked Ray girls’ basketball team rebounded nicely (no pun intended, ok maybe a little) from a 63 – 53 loss to Ft. Thomas on Dec. 6 by defeating San Manuel and Miami last Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Freshman Shelby Yocum poured in 14 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds in the Lady Bearcats’ 54 – 23 win against the Miners. Yocum was one of three Lady Cats to score in double figures, joining Tara Lorona (12 points) and Savannah Rodriguez (14 Points). Yocum, who also had five assists and eight steals, nearly recorded a triple-double in the win.
Against Miami, five Lady Cats scored in double figures, leading to a 94 – 31 beat down of the Lady Vandals. Yocum (25 Points), Rodriguez (18 points), Lorona (12 points), Julie Meza (15 points) and Ema Alvarado (10 points) combined to score 80 of the team’s 94 points.
Upcoming schedule: Dec. 13 at Hayden and Dec. 16 vs. Superior. All games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
