This is the vintage fire truck that some folks in Superior would like to see restored to its former glory.

The Superior Fire Truck Restoration Committee is well on its way to meeting its $15,000 goal thanks to the love of golf shared by so many in Superior.

The committee was pleased to announce that it raised more than $2,500 on entry fees, food and raffle sales at the golf tournament held on Saturday, May 30, at Queen Valley Golf Course. Many golfers came out to support the project from Superior and from out of town. Roy Chavez coordinated the tournament play with the help of many assistants.

The tournament sponsors were: Resolution Copper Company, H&E Equipment Services (Phoenix, AZ), Casa Denogean Restaurant, Los Hermanos Restaurant, Jade Grill Asian BBQ, Porters Café, De Marcos Italian Restaurant, Farmers Market, Southwest Towing and Superior Water and Ice.

The committee also received contributions from Carlos and Gloria Martinez and Kris Nagy.

Future activities are planned to continue the fundraising efforts.
