The Arizona State Board of Nursing recently released 2015 annual pass rates for nursing assistant training programs throughout Arizona. There were approximately 4,491 first-time candidates in 2015. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 75% on the written exam and 80% on the skills test to pass and become a Certified Nursing Assistant. The 2015 Arizona average first-time pass rate was 86% for the written exam and 76% for the skills test.
Gila Community College’s Gila Pueblo Campus in Globe had 44 nursing assistant students test in 2015 with 95% passing the written exam the first time and 86% passing the skills test the first time. The GCC Payson Campus had 31 nursing assistant students test in 2015 with 90% passing the written exam the first time and 87% passing the skills test the first time.

The next Nursing Assistant (NUR 100) classes will be offered this fall. Anjanette Bolinger will be teaching NUR 100 Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 11:20 am, August 22nd through October 12th at the Gila Pueblo Campus in Globe. Deborah Eldredge will be teaching NUR 100 Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 pm to 8:50 pm August 24th through December 15th at the Payson Campus. Students can enroll in one of these classes by calling the Gila Pueblo Campus at 928.425.8481 or by visiting the campus at 8274 South Six Shooter Canyon Road in Globe or by calling the Payson Campus at 928-468-8039 or by visiting the campus at 201 North Mud Springs Road in Payson. Register early as these classes tend to fill quickly.
The GCC Nursing Assistant Program is also offered to high school students through Cobre Valley Institute of Technology (CVIT) in southern Gila County (www.cvit81.org) and Northern Arizona Vocational Institute of Technology (NAVIT) in northern Gila County (www.navitschool.org).
