A large crowd of students, teachers, school support staff, parents, grandparents, kids and friends showed up at the First Avenue Elementary Spring Fling held Tuesday, March 3. Students earned tickets during the week for good behavior which could be exchanged for games or food. There were all kinds of games including ring toss, sack race, softball throw, cake walk, basketball hoop shoot, and more. There was food that included hot dogs, popcorn nachos, cupcakes, cotton candy, drinks and snow cones. It was an evening of family, friends, food and fun.
The National Junior High Honor society, student council and members of the San Manuel High softball team helped with the event as part of their community service. All proceeds from the event go to the Student Activity Fund.
John Hernandez lives in Oracle. He is retired and enjoys writing and traveling. He is active in the Oracle Historical Society. He covers numerous public events, researches historical features and writes business/artist profiles.
