Ray High Bearcats

The defending State Champion Ray softball team started the new season just like it ended last year’s.

  With a win.

The Lady Bearcats scored in each of the game’s four innings, including an eight-run fifth on their way to a convincing 17 – 1 season-opening victory at San Carlos last Friday.

Sophomore Amee Kenyon went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs to lead the Lady Cats. Fellow sophomore Daniella Hinojos doubled and had three RBI while Julie Meza, another sophomore, tripled and drove in two runs.

Hinojos picked up the complete-game victory, allowing only two hits and an earned run in the five-inning, 88-pitch start. She walked five and struck out 11 Lady Braves’ batters in the game.
