Paul Contreras of Corona Signs
Signs – we take them for granted. There are signs for safety, signs to give directions, signs to explain things, advertisements and even some home decor is signs. Signs can be on any kind of material, from vinyl banners, wood, billboards and brick. You name it, a sign could be placed on it. Paul Contreras of Corona Signs is a second generation, sign maker. His shop is located in Globe but he travels throughout the Copper Corridor to install signs and lettering.
He has been in business since 1987 following in his father Lazo Contreras footsteps. Lazo got his start pin striping vehicles and hand painting signs. Lazo eventually went to work in the mines as a sign painter, some of his signs are still in use at the Freeport McMoRan rod plant in Miami.
Today, Corona Signs combines both the modern computerized sign making and hand painted signs to create a one of a kind sign. Their primary customers are the local mines who need safety signs that need to have high visibility, but they also install vehicle decals and vinyl window signage. From the simple event banners to the more complex billboards, Paul can help you with all of you signage needs. Paul and his father have this motto: “If it doesn’t move, we can paint it.”
Paul explained that he joined the Superior Chamber of Commerce as a way to give back to the community of Superior. For a while his father worked at Magma and they have always provided sign and decal services to many businesses in Superior.
“We have a connection to the area,” he said.
His best business advice? “Love what you are doing!” he exclaimed. He also said there is great satisfaction in having a seeing your product when it is finished.
