The Hayden High School boys athletics program has been staying busy this summer. The Lobos have been playing some summer baseball games, facing off against 3A and 5A teams like Safford and Ironwood Ridge.
“We have about 20 kids who have been playing summer ball, lifting weights and getting ready for football, and basketball. They’ve done some basketball also,” commented Hayden coach Robert Lorona. “We’ve got activity going on in Hayden. With summer baseball, things are going pretty good, we’re undefeated and we have a promising team coming up and hopefully we’ll keep on playing, and keep on working out for basketball and football.”
Coach Lorona is proud of these Lobo athletes who are preparing themselves for the upcoming 2022-2023 sports seasons.
There are no off-days in athletics when you’re striving to become better.
The Hayden Summer Baseball League holds an 8-0 record, holding their own against bigger schools, showing that the Lobos are not as little as others may think.
As the school year approaches, the summer league games will slow down until the fall, when there is to be a tournament held in Mesa, where the Lobos intend to attend and display their confidence on the diamond.
Coach Robert Lorona reported that the Hayden athletes will be ready to start the 2022-2023 sports season with football, and that the athletes have been encouraged to go out for more sports, supporting Lobo athletics.
