The Ray basketball teams had another busy week on the courts. The week started off with both teams traveling to San Manuel to face off against the Miners. The Lady ‘Cats played a tough game, but fell short at the end, resulting in a 42-64 loss. The Bearcats came in and took care of the Miners. At the end of the boys’ game, the Bearcats were up by more than 30 points. The final score of the game was 67-35.

On Jan. 21, the teams were on the road again, traveling to Tempe Prep. Both games turned out to be difficult losses. The girls team struggled against Tempe Prep, and could hardly put any points onto the board. The game ended in a 6-44 loss for the Lady ‘Cats. The boys team were able to post more points, but were unable to keep up with the Knights, resulting in a 46-78 defeat.

The following day, both teams hosted the St. John Paul II Lions. The Lady ‘Cats would once again struggle on offense, only posting 6 points during the game, while their opponents would put up a large 86 points, resulting in a tough loss. As for the boys, they made a comeback from the previous days loss, though it wouldn’t be one of their biggest wins of the season, the Bearcats still walked away with victory in their claws. The final score of the Bearcats vs. the Lions was 63-42.

Up next for Ray: Friday, Jan. 28, the ‘Cats will host Cicero Prep, with games at 4 p.m. (JV boys), 5:30 p.m. (Varsity girls) and 7 p.m. (Varsity boys). On Saturday, Jan. 29, the two varsity teams will face off against the San Simon Longhorns in the RHS gym. Girls play at 4 p.m. and boys at 5:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Feb. 1, the ‘Cats will head to Hayden for games against the rival Lobos. Tipoffs are at 4 p.m. (JV boys), 5:30 p.m. (Varsity girls) and 7 p.m. (Varsity boys).
