Letter to the Editor: The San Manuel Elks are not closing

Contrary to rumors going around San Manuel, the San Manuel Elks lodge is not closing. The San Manuel Thrift Shop is not closing either. Instead of starting rumors without researching the facts or talking with those people directly involved, these people should be volunteering in their community and supporting those organizations and events that help keep our communities going. Just this weekend the Elks were participating in Copper Town Days and presenting a check to support our local swim team. They are in the process of preparing for the Tri-Community Thanksgiving dinner and collecting donations for Veterans for Christmas. Please help them if you can. Longtime Elk Tom Miller wrote a letter in response to the rumors. It follows below:

My name is Tom Miller and I have been an active member of BPOE #2007 (Elks) for 47 years. I would like to dispel the rumors that the Elks are closing.

We are here to serve the Tri-Community area with our many programs. We help the young people of the community, (Scholarships, Project Graduation, Scouting, Hop Shoot, etc.), the Veterans (Tri-Community Thanksgiving dinner, donations to the Veteran’s Hospital, the Veteran’s Home, etc.), the needy and Our First Responders.

We are always looking for new members, people that are willing to work for the betterment of the Tri-Community.

If you would like to become a member just contact one of our members or call the Lodge at (520)385-4041 and we will be willing to help.

Please remember to support our functions that are open to the public.

/s/ Tom Miller
