Dominic Perea was selected as All-Academic Honorable Mention

A number of local football players have already received numerous postseason honors for their performance on the field. Now Sports360AZ.com, a local digital media outlet with high-quality high school sports content, has released its 2016 All-Academic Football Teams, which represent “the best the state has to offer both on the field as well as in the classroom.”

Players were nominated by coaches and members of the Arizona High School Football community, according to the site. Nominees were required to be varsity level student-athletes with at least a 3.0 unweighted or a 3.5 weighted grade-point average.

Superior senior receiver Dominic Perea was selected as All-Academic Honorable Mention with his 3.8 unweighted GPA.

Perea, a member of the Panthers’ state semifinalist football team, is a three-sport athlete at Superior, playing basketball and tennis in addition to being a two-way starter on the football team.

This represents Perea’s second postseason honor so far. He was also named to the AIA 1A East Region Second Team at two different positions.
