Superior Arizona- “It’s been a delightful fall Head Start Program year, watching the Head Start children grow in confidence and independence. The early childhood years are precious moments in which unique learning takes place,” said Teresita Martinez Olmos of Superior Head Start.
The focus at the start of the program year was easing students into a daily classroom routine, helping them to feel comfortable in participating, getting acquainted with their fellow students as well as Superior Head Start staff, special activities and working on cutting, counting, name writing and nutrition.
This week parental participation is key, with Parent-Teacher conferences scheduled. Meanwhile, the children’s excitement is building for “Silly Dress Up Day” , which will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and will include a visit to the Superior Citizen’s Center.
November will also be a busy month as the children prepare for a walking field trip to visit the Gemini Hospice office and staff.
In October, the kids enjoyed a visit from the Superior Fire Department.
The Head Start Program welcomes community and parent volunteers to participate in activities.
