The Superior football team won its fourth-straight game last Friday night, defeating NFL Yet Academy on the road, 52 – 22.

The Panthers offense is widely considered one of, if not, the best in the state and it’s hard to argue against that fact. When the average margin of victory is more than 40 points per game and the team is averaging 54 points per game it’s easy to forget about the defense.

But the Panthers’ defense has been equally dominant and has contributed to the scoring totals in the last two wins, scoring 12 points in each.  In Friday’s win, the defense tallied three safeties and returned an interception for a touchdown. Additionally, the defense held its second-straight opponent to negative rushing yards for the game.

Quarterback Nicolaus Cruz threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, totaling nearly 300 yards of total offense in only one half of playing time. Edgar Galindo, a senior, also threw a touchdown pass in addition to finishing with five tackles and an interception for a touchdown on defense.

Galindo, Austin Navarrette, Jalon Murray and Joseph Diaz-Gonzalez each hauled in touchdown receptions.

Next up for the Panthers is a home game this Friday versus Ft. Thomas on Homecoming.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
