The history of Cobre Valley Hospital dates back to when the hospital was a mine hospital owned by Miami Inspiration.  There are plenty of stories about the hospital and how it has transformed over the years.  As the economy of the area began to shrink and health care regulations changed it became necessary to form a regional healthcare organization, thus the Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center was formed to serve Superior, Globe, Miami, Kearny, Hayden, Winkelman, San Carlos and all places in between.

Local leaders understand how important it is to have quality health care in order to attract additional economic development to the area.  People want to know that there is quality health care in the area before deciding to move to an area.

The Cobre Valley Regional Health Care Center is located in Central Heights, between Globe and Miami but the medical center has clinics in Superior, Kearny and Young as well as many medical services in Globe.  The new expansion has allowed the hospital to create private patient rooms, a state of the art birthing center and cath lab and also features new clinic access as well as more work stations in the laboratory for blood tests.  One of the rooms in the birthing center features a jacuzzi tub for birthing moms to use while laboring.  The new cafeteria will feature a soup and salad bar along with other entrees, the cafeteria will be open to the public to enjoy.  The entry to the hospital features a gas fireplace that warmly welcomes patients and visitors, in the lobby the auxiliary gift shop has a large area and the new pharmacy will also have many over the counter medicines and health care products available.  Ninety percent of the art work in the hospital has been created by local artists.

The hospital is set to be fully permitted by the state and will open in late October or early November.  The public was invited to an open house grand opening last week to see the new expansion.
