At the Mt. Vista School eighth grade promotion ceremonies held on Wednesday, May 18, many awards were given out to the students.
The awards and outstanding students that received them follow:
Valedictorian – Allison Soulé
Salutatorian – Reagan Martin
The Mabel Seballos Award ($150) – Mabel Looby
The Tom Frederick Award ($75) – Tamara Cano and Kayleigh Crook
Copper Town Association essay contest winners – Mikayla Martin and Alex Medina
Subject Area Awards ($50 each): Geometry – Allison Soule; Math – Madison Gillen; Science – Phaius Wolgast; Reading – Reagan Martin; Writing – Mikayla Martin; Social Studies – Gabrielle Estrada
Exemplary Endeavor Award (PTO) ($100 each) – Joshua Reyes and BaiLee Hill
Scholastic Athletic Scholarship – Andrea Vigil German and Marcus Peru
Living Word Chapel Award (mini iPad) – Gilberto Pinedo
GEM Award – will be given to the Valedictorian and Salutatorian if the award is funded
Besides the student awards, it has been a tradition to recognize the Super Moms who serve in PTO, help plan events, run the snack bar, and support the school in many ways. This year’s Super Moms were Brenda Garcia and Jana Looby.
