Superior Head Start

A, B, C, D, E, F, Gee, what amazing fun is being had at Head Start, by students, staff, family members and other participants!

On Wednesday, May 25, starting at 10:30 a.m. the Superior Head Start program’s ceremony for Certificate of Completion will be held. Time and nurture have brought the children experience, growth, development and the acquisition of skills, and, soon, many of them will be off to kindergarten while the staff, who enjoyed their company during a year of learning, will be welcoming new children to the program.

Head Start children learn so much in a playful way, but, with a focus on details that is rare in the academic world. Whether it’s looking for their name, or for the letters in their name, counting friends, selecting crayon colors, engaging in daily conversation, dancing to silly songs, learning how to swing, listening to stories to enhance their good listening skills and develop their attention span, the children are encouraged to develop coping skills.

They have learned much about pride, sharing, caring, concern for others, as well as the more esoteric skills such as tying shoes, waking up on time, and, of course, learning to deal with the frustrations that come with personal and academic growth.

Says Teresita Martinez-Olmos – PIC Superior Head Start, “The teaching staff would like to thank all of the parents, grandparents, family members and the community of Superior and business community for their involvement with the Head Start Program this year. It takes a strong relationship with parents and community in order for the children to succeed.”
